Originally, in the ancient Rome, it was the stadium wanted by the Emperor Domitian in 85 a.c.. And today in this square, which is one of the most picturesque of Rome, you can admire the masterpieces of two of the greatest artists of the Roman Baroque period: Gian Lorenzo Berinini with the monumental Fountain of the Rivers and Francesco Borromini with the facade of the church of S. Agnes in Agone. Both works are so impressive that influence the observer who is enchanted by the accuracy of the details and the unchanged beauty over the centuries. Also here, as in many other squares in Rome, there are restaurants and bars where you can sit outside and admire the breathtaking view of these three fountains that during the sunny days refresh the air with their water games. Not to be missed: near Piazza Navona there is the church of S. Luigi dei Francesi, where you can find some of the most enchanting paintings of Caravaggio, the Vocation od S. Matthew, the martyrdom of S. Matthew and S. Matthew and the Angel.
