The theme of the fountain is the sea: it is basically formed by a large rectangular fountain with rounded corners, surrounded by rocks and waterfalls. This whole work is dominated by the central figure of “Ocean”, framed in a niche very similar to the Arch of Triumph, who is driving a chariot made by a large shell towed by two horses, tamed by the Tritons, known as The Calm and the Restless, they symbolize the sea, that sometimes is calm and sometimes is rough.
On both sides of “Ocean” there are the niches with the statues of the Abundance (on the left hand side of Ocean) and Sobriety. Today the fountain is a must for anyone visiting Rome and thanks to its location, it is easy to reach from any other area of the city center.
